Stage and Internship
Students can undertake the thesis internship at the University or other public or private institutions or companies. During the second year, students will be required to attend an interdisciplinary laboratory covering theoretical and practical biotechnology skills.
Students wishing to undertake the thesis internship at an external research institution or company, must first identify an academic tutor belonging to the faculty of Pharmacy, who will ensure that students achieve the required learning objectives. Then students should submit the application, along with the thesis project, to the Academic Board for approval. This also applies to thesis internships at other universities.
Internships at external research institutions and companies are governed by agreements with COSP. Students must follow a procedure through a dedicated platform.
Internship request
Students can apply for thesis internship starting from the second semester of the 1st year of the programme, provided they have earned at least 30 academic credits (CFU).
Beginning of internship
To begin thesis internship, students must have earned 56 CFU.
Internship completion
Upcoming graduates are required to fill out the internship completion form and email it from their University email account to their supervisor, who will fill it and send it to the following e-mail addresses: maurizio.crestani@unimi.it and monica.gomaraschi@unimi.it. Furthermore, the student must sign up to the exam session of “Lab Training” and of “Experimental Laboratory of Biotechnology”, if selected in the study plan, in order for the grade to be registered. The file must be named using the following format: surname first name student ID number.

An internship (or traineeship) is a training experience encompassing different options:
- Students can participate in curricular internship/work placement
- Those who have completed their study programme not more than 12 months ago can do extracurricular internships/traineeships.
The Cosp manages setup procedures for internships in public and private companies and institutions aimed at enrolled students, graduands and postgraduates.
How to find a stage opportunity
Students can either select one of the available internship positions on the University noticeboard or find an internship by themselves.
In any case they must follow procedures established by the Study and Career Guidance Centre (COSP).
